Imagine the wide-eyed five-year-old on her first adventure to the beauty salon! That unique childhood experience led to a career choice for Marissa, an award-winning beauty innovator. Marissa’s career path began on a step stool lifting her onto the chair of Bill Lawrence, owner of the renowned Bill Lawrence Salon in Washington, D.C., and evolved into a lifetime commitment to use her extraordinary talents to transform lives. Marissa takes great pride in achieving the power of the makeover for her clients, and helps them to appreciate the beauty of the canvas they already possess.
Marissa worked at Emmanuel’s Hair Salon as an assistant in her youth, and after attending Howard University, Marissa studied the craft at AVEDA Institute of Atlanta, where she was winner in the classroom and in competition, taking home the top prize of First Place Full Potential Award for haircutting. Devoted to keeping her clients ahead of the trends, Marissa received advanced training in creative and corrective color services from the Vidal Sassoon Academy in London, Advance Haircutting with Gary Gerard at the International Beauty Show in Las Vegas, and a certificate in Corrective Camouflage and Beauty Makeup for Film and Television.
Marissa began her career in Atlanta’s top salons including Nani Salon and Spa, and Key Lime Pie Salon. Since 2008, she has been a part of the highly-skilled and gifted team at Bill Lawrence Salon, and has become a trusted authority on beauty, a texture expert and natural hair care specialist, with extensive training in color, cut, up-dos, hair extensions as well as make-up and hair for television and film.

Marissa works to make sure the confidence that comes with feeling beautiful is accessible to those who feel it is out of reach. She has served as a panel speaker for Aloe Project Summit for young women of color preparing for college, Beauty and Wellness Advisor for Corder Pounders Fitness Fit-A-Thon for young people to achieve a healthy weight and lifestyle; and a Beauty Volunteer for seniors at the Carroll Manor Nursing Home.
