William H. Lawrence better known as Bill began his beauty career on January 9, 1979 at the prestigious Shelton’s Hair Gallery while enrolled in the pre-Dental program at Howard University. During his tenure at Shelton’s he competed and won numerous awards in the Hair Industry and became a sought after stylist in the Washington, DC area.
Bill’s beauty philosophy is focused solely on the Total Look of the woman. He explores her beauty points and helps her to fully realize her complete personal style to compliment her fashion sensibility and creates a hairstyle and color to complete the vision.
Bill was inspired early in his career by a number of industry leaders including international beauty industry style and education icons John and Suzanne Chadwick, and Paul Mitchell. Their talent and vision helped Bill to formulate his career direction and shaped his standards of excellence. Paul Mitchell specifically is known for creating the bulk cutting method which revolutionized the industry, and is a style Bill is most noted for. In addition, renowned stylist Garren’s editorial success sparked Bill’s interest as did Floyd Kenyatta. Olive Benson changed Bill’s outlook on being a full stylist in the early 80’s and she taught him to compliment his styling ability by not being closed to any hair texture or person in your chair.
Bill most enjoys a complete cut and style.
Time is important. His ability to create and finish his client’s look in a small window of time sets him apart from most stylists. The 1940’s hairstyles help him to remember the essence of style. He strives to ensure a woman enjoys being a woman!
